Julia Roberts' half-sister has died of an apparent drug overdose, her family announced Monday. Nancy Motes, 37, was the youngest sister of Julia Roberts, 46, and actor brother Eric Roberts, 57. Motes was found dead Sunday in her Los Angeles home.
"It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes...confirms that she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose," the statement reads, according to People on Feb. 10.
The statement also said that the family is shocked and devastated by the news. As of yet there is no official report from the Coroner's office.
Hollywood Life reports that Nancy was allegedly estranged from her famous older sister Julia. In one previous interview, Motes spoke about how she felt bullied by Julia over her weight issues.
Nancy weighed almost 300 pounds before undergoing gastric bypass surgery nearly two years ago that reduced her weight to 155 pounds.
She explained that it was difficult to be overweight growing up as the little sister of the "Pretty Woman" star. Motes claimed Julia would taunt her about her weight in "not-so-nice a manner."
Motes half-brother Eric also has struggled with addiction issues, appearing on "Celebrity Rehab" with Dr. Drew.
