The 20th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place on Jan. 18, 2014, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Here is what this Screen Actors Guild Award winner said backstage in the Screen Actors Guild Awards press room.

JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series

("Veep")

What’s your secret to expertly maneuvering on the red carpet?

Thanks for saying that. I don’t feel like I have it down, so I really appreciate that. It’s really a tricky thing to wrangle, so I appreciate it. I don’t know what the deal is. You stand up straight, suck it in, and pray to the Lord that it’s working out.

What designer are you wearing? And do you enjoy the fashion aspect of awards season?

This dress is made by Monique Lhuillier. Do I enjoy it? Yes, I enjoy it when it goes well and things fit like they’re meant to, and so on. It’s totally glamorous, and at the same time, it’s become its own business.

It’s rather remarkable in the time since I first started going to these things. I used to go and just buy a dress. Isn’t that amazing? Nobody does that anymore.

Jerry Seinfeld and Jason Alexander were recently seen at Tom’s Diner in New York. Did you hear about that? Do you know what that was about and if there will ever be a “Seinfeld” reunion?

First of all, thanks for telling me about that. I didn’t know they went. That sounds like fun. We sort of did a “Seinfeld” reunion within “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” We did the “anti-reunion reunion” on “Curb” a couple of years ago. And I think it went pretty well, so I think we did it.

What do you enjoy most about your role in “Veep”?

What do I enjoy most? Oh God, what don’t I enjoy? I would say my most joyful experience on “Veep” is the collaboration with my fellow actors and writers. It’s very much that: a collaboration. And it’s fun, because it makes you feel like you’re a part of a team. And it’s a really good team. So I know it sounds corny, but it’s really true. I love this group. Thank God I love them, but I really do.

What actors have told you that they’re fans of “Veep”?

Helen Mirren just told me that she likes it. That’s kind of cool, right? Melissa McCarthy told me that she really liked it, which is really nice. And my mom likes it. People seem to enjoy it, which is great.

Would you like to be president of the United States?

No. You don’t want me to be president. Oh my God! Can you imagine?
