The 65th annual Primetime Emmy Awards took place on Sept. 22, 2013, at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles. Here is what this Emmy winner said backstage in the Emmy Awards press room.
JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
("Veep")
Why do you think "Veep" has been such an award-winning success?
It really has to do with the writing. Fundamentally, on the page, it was there. It's there. It's Armando Iannucci's voice, which is unique. Nobody had done anything like this before. And he took it and ran with it. And we have the most superlative writers, whom I think I forgot to thank when I was up there [for my acceptance speech], but they are outrageously talented.
Are you having fun on "Veep"?
I am. I'm having a ball. It's a ball. Thank you.
Who is your dream guest star on "Veep"?
We've had so many. This past season, Season 2, Allison Janney was on the show. She's become a good friend, she's wildly hilarious, and we had a ball working with her. Frankly, we had tons of guest casts that were just utterly remarkable.
Where will you putting this Emmy Award?
I'm going to sleep with it!
You've won several Emmy Awards. What does this Emmy Award mean to you?
It means a ton. I've actually lost many, many more times than I've won. I've lost 10 times, as a matter of fact. And so, it is delicious to win!
