Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at firstname.lastname@example.org.
When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. All stats for the week may not be included if they were not sent in with the nomination.
2013 Fall season- Week 2- September 9th- September 15th
Julia Annis- Foxcroft- Field Hockey- The junior had two goals and two assists in 7-0 victory over John Bapst. Had two goals and three assists in 10-0 win over PCHS. Scored two goals in 5-0 victory over Dexter.
Annis and the Ponies have started the season 4-0-1 and have outscored their opponents 26-0 so far this season.
Annis is the 8th student/athlete and second female from Foxcroft to earn athlete of the week honors. She joins Ryan Rebar (3), Donnie Boyer (3), Kaleb Smith, Jesse Provost, Mackenzie Coiley, Tino Ayala, and Cameron Fadley. Click here to see the full list.
Katey Curtis- Ellsworth- Soccer- Scored three goals and had four assists in 10-0 victory over Foxcroft.
Peyton Watson- Dexter- Field Hockey- Recorded a hat trick to lead the Tigers to a 3-1 victory in their home opener against Orono.
Taylor Quick- Nokomis- Soccer- Scored two goals in 4-0 victory over MCI.
Alex Speed- PCHS- Soccer- Had a hat trick in 7-2 win over Lee.
Maddy McVicar- Calais- Soccer- Had a hat trick and one assist in 4-2 win over Washington Academy.
Kali Doiron- MCI- Field Hockey- Scored three goals in 5-0 victory over Morse.
Haley Tibbetts- MCI- Field Hockey- Scored two goals in 5-0 win over Morse.
Fern Morrison- Foxcroft- Field Hockey- Recorded a hat trick in 10-0 victory over PCHS. Had two goals in 5-0 victory over Dexter.
