For nearly two weeks, the beleaguered dog has found solace at Janice Wolf's sanctuary, and during that time, she has put on weight, gained strength and learned what it means to feel safe and loved.
According to Wolf, Julep still sleeps a great deal - not surprising given the huge amount of trauma her body sustained.
Though still mostly bald, there are signs that Julep's fur will return.
Unfortunately, the gun shot to Julep's face has rendered one of her eyes completely unusable and eventually, when she is strong enough, the eye will have to be removed.
Julep has compromised eye-sight and hearing, but she is surrounded by friends, and she seems to know that she is no longer in danger.
Day by day, moment by precious moment, Julep is leaving behind the misery which once defined her life.
