Breaking News: Orion Sports Management CEO Allan Tremblay told this writer that 3-time Women's Boxing World Champion Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton's next fight will be on September 30th in Mexico, and will be televised and made available for everyone watch through the GMA Network live (October 1st in Manila).
Details for the fight are still being finalized (venue, weight class, opponent), but according to my sources within Team Julaton, this next fight is part of their continuing global push for boxing fans worldwide to witness the talents of the Female Fighting Pride of the Philippines.
October will surely turn into "Hurricane Season" in Mexico, as Julaton is set to face one of the country's top female fighters in their own backyard, in hopes to continue the tradition of countryman Manny Pacquiao against Mexican opponents. The fight will definitely be an early appetizer for the much-anticipated Pacquiao-Marquez trilogy in November, and a chance for Julaton's fans to watch her once again on the Kapuso Network.
A deal between Orion Sports CEO Allan Tremblay (Julaton's Promoter) and GMA Network CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon has been forged to showcase Ana Julaton's ring exploits through the GMA Network beginning with an airing of the replay of Julaton's most recent fight against Angel Gladney in Miami on June 24. The fight has yet to be aired in the Philippines, and will be a great opportunity for Filipino boxing fans to witness Julaton's gutsy performance, in what turned out to be a bloody contest.
Julaton's brilliant performance against the power-punching Gladney at the highest weight class she's ever competed in, showcased her coming of age as she continues to master the Freddie Roach system. Incidentally, Julaton's good friend Fil-Am NBA coach Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat, sat ringside for the event, and instantly became a boxing fan that night after being inspired by Julaton's performance. It was his first time attending a live boxing fight. "I'll definitely be in the next one," said Spoelstra, who guided the superstar trio of LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade to last season's NBA Finals.
