Judge says "pay up" to former alderman; $143,837 in child support

Convicted felon and former Chicago Alderman Wallace Davis Jr. was sentenced Friday to 30 months of probation for being a “deadbeat dad”.

Wallace, who owns Wallace’s Catfish Corner on the city’s west side fathered two children, now aged 7 and 8 after a relationship with a registered nurse.

The relationship ended in 2005 and he was court-ordered to pay child support, according to The Chicago Tribune.

Cook County prosecutors Karl Hofbauer and Diana Meyer told the media that Wallace did make some child support payments, but had failed to pay since early 2011.

Facing Judge Dennis Porter, Wallace pleaded guilty to criminal failure to pay child support.
Wallace has been ordered to pay $143,837 before his 30-month sentence is completed.
