According to a lawsuit, obtained and posted by TMZ on March 12, Judge Judy Sheindlin is being sued over some allegedly undervalued china. The country’s most famous judge supposedly purchased $500,000 worth of china off her friend Randy Douthit for a mere $50,000. Randy’s ex-wife Patrice Jones contends that the sale was done in order to hide money during their divorce proceedings.
Judge Judy told TMZ, “I have not seen any complaint by the former Mrs. Douthit, however, I don’t owe this lady a cent..and if this 50-year-old woman would spend her time more productively at trying to find a job, instead of abusing the judicial system with frivolous lawsuits we would all be a lot better off.”
Patrice's lawsuit also alledges that Judge Judy allowed Randy to reduce his profit sharing in her popular television show so that he would appear less wealthy on paper. The scorned lover insists that Judge Judy was well aware that these measures were being taken in order to get revenge upon her.
Judge Judy does not seem to be worried at all about this lawsuit, but if it goes to court maybe she can enlist Judge Mathis to hear the case. Most viewers would probably be shocked to learn there even exists a china set that costs half a million dollars.
Update March 15: Judge Judy has returned the dishes to Randy Douthit according to TMZ. The divorcee says his ex-wife can have the china when she ponies up a cashier's check for half their value.
