Judge Judy has one of the most successful daytime television shows and now she has her own primetime special airing on CBS Tuesday May 20th. The special will chronicle Judge Sheindlin's rise from handling cases in New York's family court system to a pop culture icon. Highlighted in the special are some of the judge's most famous cases, as well as her one liners known as "Judyisms," which have been parodied on everything from Saturday Night Live to Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Judge Judy has been a sort of staple in American cultural reference since the premiere of her show on September 16,1996. The show was the beginning of a revolution and resurgence for court based television shows. Many television judges have come and gone, but Judge Judy has stayed the course for almost eighteen years.
Judge Sheindlin was discovered by Hollywood through a 60 minutes special that aired in 1993. Clips from Judy’s iconic beginnings will be shown on the Judge Judy primetime special Tuesday night. Do you love Judge Judy, or love to hate her?
