Judge declares that Leighton Meester not financially obligated to her mother

A year long legal battle with her mother is finally over for "Gossip Girl's" Leighton Meester. A judge approved a default ruling today saying that Leighton doesn't owe her mom, Constance Meester, a single dime. Not so much as a penny.

In July 2011, Leighton filed a lawsuit against her mother for misuing money meant for her younger brother's medical care after Constance got plastic surgery with the funds instead. In fact, Constance threatened to sue her daughter if the money didn't keep coming. (She filed just days later.)

In December, Constance dropped her suit. But Leighton proceeded, wanting everything in writing. E! calls her a "smart cookie", and that seems like an apt description of the starlet.

Judge Gregory Alacron ruled there was no valid or enforceable agreement between Leighton to pay her mom Constance any amount of money, siding with Leighton by default after her mother failed to properly respond to the accusations.

Leighton can be seen in the upcoming movie "That's My Boy" with Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg, in theaters June 15th.
