Hostess Brands Inc. has finally sold their most popular snack food brand Twinkies. According to WKYC-TV on Tuesday, March 19 the bankruptcy judge has approved the sale of Twinkies to a pair of investment firms.
Hostess Brands Inc. not only sold Twinkies brand but also included in the deal were the snacks Ding Dongs, Ho Hos and more to Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos Company for a reported $410 million.
The news of the sale has overjoyed consumers who rushed to purchase all remaining Twinkies in stores when Hostess Brands Inc. originally went out of business. Now many can rest easy knowing soon they will be able to purchase Twinkies in stores once again.
According to Evan Metropoulos, Twinkies should be back on shelves by June. Not only will the firms have Twinkies and other original Hostess products on shelves, they are also working on new product extensions which may include offering Hostess original products in a variety of flavors.
The sale of Wonder Bread was also approved to Flowers Foods, which currently makes Tastykakes.
