THR learned yesterday that Michael Fassbender (“Haywire”) has had to drop out of “Jane Got a Gun.”
The western, led by Natalie Portman (“Closer”), has seen many delays but was set to begin filming next.
In light of Fassbender’s departure the production has been delayed until April, but now Jude Law (“Repo Men”) has stepped up to the plate.
Joel Edgerton (“The Thing”), originally set to play the film’s villain, has switched over to Fassbender’s role, and Jude Law will now take on the role of the villain.
Directed by Lynne Ramsay (“We Need to Talk About Kevin”), the film follows good girl Jane (Portman), who runs away from her outlaw husband (Law) and teams up with an old flame (Edgerton) to protect her family.
The film has always sounded great, and swapping Fassbender for another talented actor doesn’t bother me at all.
I actually prefer seeing Jude Law in a more villainous role (did you see “Road to Perdition?”).
