It would seem that the powers that be over at ABC want the world to know Juan Pablo Galavis was the worst “Bachelor” ever. Not only was he not invited to Sean Lowe’s wedding or asked to be a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars,” it appears he will be the fodder for promotions of Andi Dorfman’s season as “The Bachelorette.” Celebrity Dirty Laundry shared some of the first images on April 26 that take potshots at the Venezuelan soccer star.
Galavis continues to milk his “Bachelor fame by masquerading his relationship with the final rose winner from his season, Nikki Ferrell. The two make plenty of appearances together but Celebrity Dirty Laundry asserts it is all a sham. ABC has decided to distance themselves from Galavis as much as possible and take the side of the fans.
To that end, ABC has a whole publicity campaign designed for the upcoming season of “The Bachelorette” where they take a pretty public poke at Juan Pablo. The tagline for the season is “She is looking for the right Juan,” except there is a line through Juan and the word ‘one’ has been scribbled over it, according to the May 5th print edition of In Touch magazine. You can see a picture of it at the Celebrity Dirty Laundry site.
ABC is hoping to capitalize on the distaste for “The Bachelor” left by Juan Pablo by promising viewers a better edition. On ABC’s website for the show, they even boast about Dorfman opting out on Galavis. As far as a marketing technique, it could be brilliant. How Juan Pablo feels about it is anybody’s guess. We bet he’d say, “Ees okay.”
The question is will it work? Can ABC lure viewers back to “The Bachelor” with the pretty 26 lawyer who walked out on last season’s bachelor?
The producers are already dealing with unfortunate drama associated with Dorfman’s season. Contestant Eric Hill, who had been eliminated, died last week after a paragliding accident. Producers are working on making sure that his memory is preserved appropriately in terms of his appearance in any episodes on the show. Between the Juan Pablo fiasco and the tragedy of Hill’s passing, “The Bachelorette” is off to a bumpy start.
“The Bachelorette” with Andi Dorfman will premiere on Monday, May 19 on ABC. Will you be tuning in?
