Flashing disco lights pierced the dimly lit dance floor; patrons playing pool on every pool table in the place as “Dave”, head of security, monitored the crowd while T. Made and Todd G. rock the crowd with all of the latest hip-hop hits. JT’s Variety club is the place to be on Tuesday nights for those party animals who can’t wait until the weekend!
On this particular Tuesday night…open mic night. I had the privilege of watching some of “The Ville’s” premiere local talents perform their original compositions of music. The experience was both entertaining and euphoric, being that I’m a Louisville musician myself! As Wendi (JT’s senior bartender from California) enthusiastically poured an array of mixed drinks (and a few beers) for her customers, her understudy Courtney filled me in on the talent that was to perform. After I received a warm welcome and a strong Vodka and Cranberry from Wendi, Courtney and I stepped out onto the back deck to share a smoke.
Courtney, a new bartender at JT’s and a self proclaimed singer-songwriter let me know that JT’s Variety club is not just a place to go for a good time but, it is also Louisville’s “number one” spot for up and coming music artists. As we enjoyed our cigarettes she began to point out the star talent that roamed among us. The first act she pointed out was “Mz Cookie” an entertainment diva laced in today’s latest fashion complete with long flowing black hair; wearing canary yellow skinny jeans and strutting runway style heels that would make any girl jealous! Next she directed my attention to the street creditable members of a record label fittingly named “Grindin’ Hard Records”. Out of that group she made it clear that “Super Cool”, “K-Low” and “Rio” along with a mention of “KYDUNKRYDA” where all lyrical forces to be reckoned with!
After “Super Cool” performed his hit song and record label pledge-of-allegiance “G-Hard (or go home)” the energized crowd gave him a rock star like applause as he exited the stage to be among the ranks of his record label “Grinding Hard Records”. Afterward I was randomly introduced to the movers and shakers of JT’s Variety club as well as members of the various record labels in the club that night.
I don’t know everything but, I do know this: JT’s Variety club is a club of both good people looking to have a good time and they have various forms of entertainment to enable your clubbing pleasure!
Not only will you find good entertainment at JT’s Variety club, you will also find an energetic array of people who don’t mind partying into the night during the week! Thanks for the goodtime JT’s (Courtney and Wendi)…I had fun!
