One thing is for sure when it comes to people….you cannot fake passion.
People try it everyday, but eventually the burden of faking overtakes the true essence of that person’s limits….and eventually they fade away. As we all know, Mixed Martial Arts is a sport that is fueled by passion, excitement and respect. There is no better example of that here in Colorado than the man known as John Reid Gordon…..simply called JR.
JR is an unmistakable icon at virtually every single MMA show here in Colorado.
He stands a mere 6’7” tall, sports an 80’s ponytail and beard like nobody’s business, is always cageside providing crystal clear “real-time” results as the action happens and has never been seen NOT dressed in black. He is a man that is widely respected by everyone here in Colorado for his amazing dedication to the sport and even more so to the professionalism that he upholds for our people that make up the sport. JR and his iconic partner, Dr Alex Constantindes own and operate MMABuzz.com – Colorado’s #1 news site for MMA action.
JR Gordon has won MMA Media Outlet of the Year for the last 2 years straight and has virtually provided every piece of information regarding MMA to Colorado for the last 4 years. Simply stated….JR Gordon is the ultimate MMA professional.
From his lineage as a Muay Thai fighter and his long journey into the violently poetic world of combative sports…we see what the entwinement of passion, dedication and respect has done with our beloved JR Gordon. When it comes to national MMA media members, those involved in the MMA at the highest levels regularly say that JR’s quality of information delivery about the sport of mixed martial arts is the finest there is anywhere. Don’t believe me?…just ask Inside MMA’s own Ron Kruck.
Examiner has had the privilege of working with the esteemed JR Gordon for the last few years on various projects and events within the fights, tournaments, radio and charities. He has shined in moments of tragedy like no other, has been there everytime through physical limitations, he’s endured through personal difficulties and yet he stands as solid as an oak tree with the utmost professionalism. He is a very well rounded professional that has given himself to the school of fighting….and he’s earned his Doctorate in the world of ass-kicking.
There is something to be said for a person that can give dedication to anything.
We see it often with examples like: athletes, great parents, outstanding bosses and employees, terrific coaches…to name a few, but it is very difficult to find in people that do a job that they are covering….day in and day out. We get that same level of preparation, dedication, execution and commitment from JR and his work within our sport.
As he often gives the credit to the men and women that engulf this sport, it’s about time that the Colorado MMA community recognize and acknowledge the amazing efforts of the man we call JR. He is the epitome of professionalism, consistency, execution and commitment that it takes to be “iconic” in the ever-changing landscape of MMA. He is the champion of all that is Colorado MMA.
Colorado loves and appreciates all of your hard work and effort in bringing out the best this sport has to offer. There are so many back-stories that truly make the people and events of this game compelling, and you’ve always been able to give that insight to help people (that cannot attend events) fully understand what is going on in the best way. As we always say, we really are fortunate to have “great MMA everything” here in Colorado…but one man stands above the rest, and his name is JR Gordon.
I believe that it is appropriate to say, on behalf of everyone in our MMA community….Thank you for everything JR.
