JP Howell returns to Dodgers

Left handed reliever JP Howell and the Los Angeles Dodgers came to an agreement on Tuesday, on a two year $11.2 million contract. The contract also includes a third year option.

The Dodgers were looking to strengthen their rotation this off season, and adding Howell allows them to do just that.

Last season Howell recorded a 2.03 ERA in just over 62 innings, and if he reaches over 120 appearances this season, he'll be eligible to take advantage of a $6.25 million option for that third year.

Once the deal is complete after Howell passes a physical on Thursday, the Dodgers could still look for another reliever before Spring Training.

Howell was a key reliever in the Dodgers run toward the NLCS last season.
