Joy Behar leaving 'The View' this summer? Why? (Video)

A March 7 report said Joy Behar is leaving "The View" this August after being with the ABC morning show since its beginning on the small screen starting in 1997. Deadline says that this sassy and extremely comedic TV personality will be gone by the end of the summer of 2013, making her the last original co-host except for Barbara Walters to leave.

So why is Joy bolting from her primary post on the tube?

Well, she's not being kicked off the panel as some pundits have claimed. No, she is not going away so that Brooke Shields can take over her spot with Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherry Shepherd and Barbara Walters.

In fact, Joy told Deadline that she simply feels this is "the right time" to move on.

Behar added, "You reach a point when you say to yourself, 'Do I want to keep doing this?'" Joy says she has been pursuing plenty of other projects while appearing every weekday on the small screen (like scribing a play) and she has not been pursuing other interests (like performing enough standup), which she is sad about and so wants to change.

That said, Joy Behar reportedly still wants to continue to talk on television and she wants to helm a show that takes chat to an intelligent level that would put her in the hot seat asking all the probing questions. That said, Joy has allegedly met with CNN president Jeff Zucker and she seems to be looking at that network as a possible new home.

Meanwhile, who will take Joy Behar's spot at "The View"table? Stay tuned.
