Joy Behar is leaving “The View” after over 16 years at the table, and viewers are wondering about rumors she is headed to CNN. According to a March 7 report on Daily Mail, there is a lot of speculation that Behar will be part of Jeff Zucker’s overhaul of CNN as her stint at “The View” comes to an end at the end of the season.
ABC News has the network’s public statement regarding Behar's departure from the popular discussion program:
Joy Behar has been instrumental in the success of ‘The View’ from the very beginning. We wish her all the best in this next chapter, and are thrilled that we have her for the remainder of the season,” ABC said in a statement.
According to Daily Mail, Joy Behar confirmed that she had a positive meeting with Jeff Zucker, CNN’s new chief, who has made several surprising changes since he took the helm of the faltering ship. Zucker is reportedly considering freeing up Anderson Cooper’s 8 p.m. time slot, leaving the 10 p.m. AC360 where it is. It is possible that Joy Behar could be an 8 p.m. option.
Behar’s program on Current TV will end when Al-Jazeera assumes control of the network that it purchased in a controversial $500 million deal with Al Gore earlier this year.
