'Journey Into Nyx' preview week: 'Whitewater Naiads'

This week begins the "Journey Into Nyx" previews on DailyMTG.com. There is no particular order to the previews on the "Magic: The Gathering" site and there is no particular order here as well. With that in mind, here is the next card:

Whitewater Naiads - 3UU - Uncommon - Enchantment Creature - Constellation - 4/4

This creature also features one of the newest mechanics known as "constellation." The idea of the mechanic was to make enchantments more important. Here is the exact text on the card:

Constellation - Whenever Whitewater Naiads or another enchantment enters the battlefield under your control, target creature can't be blocked this turn.

As a mechanic, "constellation" is interesting, but it initially does not stand out. It will definitely have a impact on standard and limited play seeing as how the major theme of the block is enchantments.

The card does not look like it will play well in the Standard format. However, this looks like it could be a power player in the Limited format. It's hits hard and has a thick body. Combined with its special ability and this may see its way to the top of the pick chart.

How high do you think Whitewater Naiads will go in drafts? Or will it fall flat? Let us know in the comments.

"Journey Into Nyx" hits stores on May 2. Prerelease events will be held the weekend of April 26 and 27. It will then be released online May 12. Finally, Game Day events will be held the weekend of May 24 and 25.
