'Journey Into Nyx' preview week: 'Hall of Triumph'

Combined with the Spear of Heliod, we might have a winner here.
Wizards of the Coast

This week begins the "Journey Into Nyx" previews on There is no particular order to the previews on the "Magic: The Gathering" site and there is no particular order here as well. With that in mind, here is the next card:

Hall of Triumph - 3 - Rare - Legendary Artifact - As Hall of Triumph enters the battlefield, choose a color. Creatures you control of the chosen color get +1/+1.

This neat little artifact maybe something that white weenie fans may have been looking for in the Standard format. It's too bad that "Spear of Heliod" already exists, and we all know how that card has done in the format. However, with their powers combined, these two might make for a lethal team.

Considering both items are legendary, it's not like you can have multiple copies of either one in play at the same time on the same side. However, now that we have two different items that give the same effect might make the game a little more noteworthy.

"Hall of Triumph" will not limit itself to white weenie, of course. There are plenty of other decks that can take advantage of the bonus buff. The legendary artifact looks to be a certain fan favorite for many casual players, but it may not be as certain for the competitive audience.

One more cool fact about "Hall of Triumph," it will be promo for those who play in the "Journey Into Nyx" Game Day event.

What do you all think? Is this card a winner? Or is it a wiener?

"Journey Into Nyx" hits stores on May 2. Prerelease events will be held the weekend of April 26 and 27. It will then be released online May 12. Finally, Game Day events will be held the weekend of May 24 and 25.
