Today marks the second day of "Journey Into Nyx" previews on DailyMTG.com. There is no particular order to the previews on the "Magic: The Gathering" site and there is no particular order here as well. With that in mind, here is the next card:
Godsend - 1WW - Mythic Rare - Legendary Artifact - Equipped creature gets +3/+3. Whenever equipped creature blocks or becomes blocked by one or more creatures, you may exile one of those creatures. Opponents can't cast cards with the same name as a card exiled with Godsend. Equip 3.
"Godsend" takes well after its own name. Interestingly enough, it isn't an enchantment as well. Nonetheless, this card has already caused quite a stir on social media and for good reasons. It is very powerful.
At a casting cost of only three mana, this is an extremely cost effective spell. You definitely get more than what you paid for, and then some. Aside from making its wielder much larger, but it has the added ability to quickly dispatch anyone that gets in its way. Something that should be pointed out is the wording on the rules text of the card. When it "exiles" a creature that it blocks or is blocked by, it doesn't "target" the creature. Meaning that this card may be able to get around creatures with hexproof or protection from white.
This is a card that will definitely see Standard constructed play. It's probably a safe bet to make most commander decks as well. The only downfall of the card is its legendary status. This will limit the number of copies that constructed players will use in their decks. Players will most likely pack two or three copies at most.
Four copies in a deck will maximize your chances of drawing it, and if you already have a copy in play, it will do you know good in your hand.
What do you think of "Godsend?" Have the prayers of many players been answered? Or is this the work of a false prophet? Let us know in the comment section.
"Journey Into Nyx" hits stores on May 2. Prerelease events will be held the weekend of April 26 and 27. It will then be released online May 12. Finally, Game Day events will be held the weekend of May 24 and 25.
