Joss Whedon TV shows live on in comic books

The Whedonverse lives on in comic books. Last week we announced the latest news about four of Joss Whedon's TV shows (in fact, all of Whedon's shows) that continue in comic book form. It seems like Whedon has done what fans of beloved TV shows always yearn for: A way for the story to go on after the final episode airs.

All of these shows-turned-comics begs the question, Is Whedon even interested in writing original comic books anymore? Here are the comic books Whedonites have to look forward to this year.

Buffy Season 9: After the wildly-successful and dare I say epic Buffy Season 8 comic books, the Whedonverse crew is continuing the story of the Scooby Gang this fall in the next canonical "season" of comic books. A lot has changed for Buffy and the world, and the consequences of those changes will play out in Buffy Season 9.

Angel and Faith: The vampire with a soul and the rogue slayer have joined forces to fight evil and redeem themselves for their dark pasts. And is anyone surprised? Angel and Faith had a unique and touching relationship on-screen, and fans of the Buffyverse should look forward to seeing what they accomplish as a dynamic duo.

Serenity: Better Days and Other Stories: The true tragedy of Firefly is that there was so much more of the story to be told that didn't get to play out in the big damn movie, Serenity. Fans can take comfort in the fact that the crew of Serenity lives on in comic books like this one, which combines four previously-published comic book stories: Better Days, Float Out, The Other Half, and Downtime.

Dollhouse: Epitaph #1: Dollhouse only lasted for two seasons on the air before it was canceled, so much like Firefly these comic books offer fans the possibilities that they missed on-screen. This will be the first of five comic book issues that take place after the series finale of Dollhouse.

Can't stop the signal: It's going to be a good year for comic books in the Whedonverse. Check out these titles and past Joss Whedon comics wherever Dark Horse Comics are sold.
