Joss Whedon responded to the news of Ben Affleck as the new Batman in the 'Man of Steel' sequel, Aug. 23, 2013, according to Variety. Fans have been livid and even a petition was signed for the White House to ban Affleck from playing Batman essentially forever. Whedon gave fan-boys and fan-girls something to think about and tweeted his thoughts on the casting choice.
Whedon surprised fans with his support of the actor, despite recent outcry. “Affleck'll crush it. He's got the chops, he's got the chin -- just needs the material. Affleck & Cavill toe to toe -- I'm in,” Joss wrote Friday night.
The yet to be named 'Man of Steel' sequel will be directed by Zack Snyder and is set to be released July 17, 2015, two months after the 'Avengers' sequel. Will there be a sequel showdown when these two highly anticipated films come to the screen? At the least, they will be compared financially, with one becoming the box office champion of the summer.
Do you think Whedon actually likes Affleck or is there some kind of hidden motive in his remarks?
