According to USA Today on Aug. 24, Joss Whedon gave his support for Ben Affleck in the up and coming "Batman vs. Superman" film. The director of "The Avengers" and the upcoming "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." TV series said Affleck will "crush it" via his Twitter feed. That being said, it looks as though Whedon gives the big time celebrity a nicely done geek endorsement.
"Affleck'll crush it. He's got the chops, he's got the chin. -- just needs the material". Affleck and (Henry) Cavill toe to toe -- I'm in".
Hopefully, this "toe to toe" action between the two rivals will not end in cracking of Batman's neck like Superman had done in Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel". That being said, one can only hope that Affleck's previous experience as the Daredevil could help in evading such a quick and dreadful ending to his characters life.
The tweet had came in the midst of the uproar on the internet about this announcement and Warner Brothers had not expected such a surge in backlash upon the announcement. Up to this point, there had been a good amount of actors that had portrayed the character, so it looks like it's time for a change as Affleck replaces Christian Bale as the caped crusader.
Even director Zack Snyder gave his feedback to the announcement:
"Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry's Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retains the charms that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can't wait to work with him".
Affleck will play alongside with Henry Cavill in "Batman vs. Superman" which is scheduled to be released come July 17, 2015.
