American Joss Christensen lead Team USA on Thursday for a medal sweep at the Olympic podium. The Olympic slopestyle skiing finish had Joss Christensen, Gus Kenworthy and Nick Goepper, all of Team USA, sweep in a 1-2-3 finish. According to the Los Angeles Times on Thursday, this is only the third time this has ever happened for American athletes in Winter Game history. The guys were all smiles when accepting their awards on the podium and three United States flags were seen as the country colors rose on the flagpoles.
While Joss Christensen definitely had to be excited for his win, he also was a bit sad. After losing his father in August the idea that his biggest supporter couldn't be in the crowd watching had to be difficult. Christensen dedicated the medal win to his father and fans couldn't be happier that he remembered someone so close to his career.
Olympic slopestyle skiing was fairly competitive, even if it was just Team USA picking up the hardware. While the guys are close, they find that the friendship outside at the competitions help them focus. Rosa Khutor Extreme Park is just another place for the team to come together and perform. Supporting each other and offering their best tricks seems to have made a solid team that is full of winners.
