Movement

Just as art communicates, so does the body!  Join us in Joslyn's Discovery Garden as Lora Haase from Lotus House of Yoga leads groups through basic yoga poses--bending and folding like our new sculpture by Fletcher Benton!

Yarn Bombs

See what your communicty can do!  Art lovers across the county volunteered time, resources, and nimble fingers to create a Yarn Bomb here at Joslyn!  What's a Yarn Bomb?  Find out more about this phenomenon from Lincoln artists Ann Ruehrmund Burton and Wendy Weiss.  They will provide a short talk on Yarn Bombing and the history and resurgence of craft in comtemporary art.  For more information on this project and to be involved, visit www.joslyn.org.

Art-Making

- Drawing with dust - Inspired by signs and advertising, Ed Ruscha creates drawings of words using gunpowder and graphite.  Make your own word drawing using additive and subtractive drawing techniques!

- Cutout sculptures - in addition to wall paintings, Alex Katz paints onto shaped pieces of aluminum or wood to create paper doll-like sculptures referred to as "cutouts."  Check out his painting Cow, then stop by to create your own Katz-inspired cutout using mat board and oil pastels.

-Miro, Miro on the Wall - Can you find the painting, The Hand, by Joan Miro in Joslyn's galleries?  Scout it out and drop-in to make your own dreamlike composition using paint, ink, and even your fingerprints!
