Since that horrific day of March 17th when 15 year-old Josie Ratley was nearly beaten to death by 15 year-old Wayne Treacy, Josie has been in a medically induced coma after surviving two brain surgeries.

Reportedly, according to CBS News and Pray for Josie Lou Ratley Facebook Group, Josie is waking up.  The family attorney will be holding a press conference at 10:30 am today to give us an official update on her condition.

Hilda Gotay, Josie's mother, recently said  "She's able to move her right side a little bit, which I was really concerned about because there was no movement at all. Of course, she's moving her left side and she's opening her eyes, but she's not actually focusing on anything yet and she doesn't follow commands yet."

The Ratley family is without medical insurance. There are many fundraisers in South Florida taking place. Learn more by joining Pray for Josie Lou Ratley on Facebook.

FYI: Josie is covered by Medicaid. The money being raised from generous donors will go to long-term rehabilitative care, including occupational, physical and speech therapy. The need is still tremendous. But there is health insurance in the picture.

Thank you Rafael for clearing that up - I will correct it too.
