March 17th our community and the nation  has been stunned about the horrific incident that nearly killed 15  year-old Josie Ratley.  Another teenager, Wayne Treacy, after allegedly being angered over some disturbing text messages, set out to find Josie Ratley.  The rest is history as he stomped her head with his steel toe boots until teacher Walter Walsh intervened.

Since then, Josie Ratley, an eighth grader, has undergone three brain surgeries and proceeded to an undisclosed location for extensive physical and occupational therapy. It has been a long, painful and emotional journey for Josie and her family.

Over the last three weeks Josie has been re-learning to talk, to eat, to use her arms, etc. In a written statement, her attorney said her long-term prognosis is still unknown and could take years to determine her prognosis for a full recovery.

Shortly a new chapter will start as Josie Ratley is coming home from her rehab.  Her mother, Hilda Gotay Ratley is expected to give a news conference today.

The Pray for Josie Lou Ratley  Facebook Group has reached over 2000 supporters and is growing daily.  It is the power of prayer and support of many people throughout the world that is helping this family heal and recover from this malicious incident.

what were the text messages? Not excusing the assault, but in recent stories of school bullying via texts, social networks, many teens can not cope and often turn that to rage then expressed as inward anger/suicide or outward.

Who cares what the text messages were. It doesn't matter what she texted, it's totally irrelevant, nothing...nothing...she could had written would in any way excuse the actions of this thug. I hope they never release her texts, if they do it will just provide hateful people with just the excuse they need/want so they can attack this child...this victim of violence.
