Orange County, CA - Joshua was saved by the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County just a few short days ago.
Joshua was just a number prior to being rescued...his body a sad reflection of his life of neglect.
Though Joshua has the appearance of a senior dog - he is estimated to be just one year of age, barely past his puppyhood.
An update was received on Joshua yesterday,
We had to shave Joshua down completely to see what was going on with his skin. He had open sores the size of a person's palm on his boney frame. He only weighs 39 pounds. He has sores all over his body, including in some personal places. He has that vacant look that dogs who have given up hope have, but we know we can turn that around with time. His care is extensive---ivermectin injections over 6-8 weeks, oral and topical medication, and frequent skin soaks. Right now, his skin smells putrid, as if rotting, but the medicated baths will help to close the wounds.
The rescue organization is hopeful that caring individuals will step up to sponsor this dejected boy.

Joshua has a long road ahead of him - but his journey will now include the loving touch of those who care.
Be well Joshua!
