Joshua Jackson has joined the cast of drama pilot "The Affair," according to an Aug. 26, 2013 media announcement from Showtime. Jackson stars along with Dominic West, Ruth Wilson and Maura Tieney in the drama pilot
"The Affair" stars Joshua Jackson ("Fringe," "Dawson’s Creek"), Golden Globe nominee Dominic West ("The Wire," "The Hours"), Golden Globe nominee Ruth Wilson ("The Lone Ranger," "Luther") and Emmy nominee Maura Tierney ("The Good Wife," "ER").
The story of "The Affair" is about marriage, tragedy, infidelity and consequences set in Long Island, NY. The plot explores how two marriages are impacted by an affair. The story will be told separately from a male and female perspective.
Cole (Jackson) is a hard-edged cowboy who manages the family ranch on the eastern tip of Long Island. The ranch has been in the family for generations. Cole's wife is Allison (Wilson) who works in a pancake house and is trying to piece her life back together in the wake of a tragedy.
Allison has an affair with Noah (West), a New Yorker who is on the island to spend the summer with his family. The affair complicates the marriage of Cole and Allison and of Noah and Helen.
Helen (Tierney) is Noah's wife of 17 years, also described as his college sweetheart, best friend, lover and mother of his children. Helen's world is buffeted by Noah's infidelity and she swings back and forth from understanding to furious, and from forgiving to vengeful.
Award-winning playwright and writer/producer Sarah Treem (House of Cards, In Treatment) wrote the original script with Hagai Levi. They first worked together on the American adaption of Levi's show In Treatment.
