Joshua Bell, hailed as one of the world's greatest violinists, will perform with his orchestra, Academy of St Martin in the Fields in Miami Bell on Saturday, March 15 at 8 p.m. at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.

"This concert by this superb English orchestra, the Academy of St Martin in the Field, led by its American director Joshua Bell, celebrates the joyful universality of music and embodies the mission of our 2013-2014 Knight Masterworks Season -- to bring out the richness and diversity of the nation's and the world's most widely acclaimed classical music treasures," said M. John Richard, president and CEO of the Arsht Center.

The program includes Johann Sebastian Bach's Violin Concerto No. 2 in E major, Ludwig Van Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 in C major, Ralph Vaughan Williams' haunting "A Lark Descending" and the strong orchestra arrangement of Franz Schubert's String Quartet No. 14, "Death and the Maiden."

Heralded as one of the world's greatest orchestras, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields is noted internationally for its refined and resplendent sound, which relies on the outstanding musicianship of its members. It was formed in 1958 as a congenial place where musicians could come together without a conductor and Bell is only the second Music Director in its history.

The orchestra has more than 500 recordings to its name, often reaching the top of the Billboard classical charts, most recently with Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons," led by Bell, who has been hailed by the Boston Herald as "the greatest American violinist active today.

The concert will be preceded by a free pre-concert lecture at 7 p.m.

Tickets range from $50 to $150 and can be purchased by calling the box office at (305) 949-6722 or online.
