Josh Thomson to fight Nate Diaz at UFC on FOX 7 at HP Pavilion in San Jose

Two local Northern California fighters will square off on April 20 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose when Josh Thomson takes on Nate Diaz.

This will be Thomson's first fight in the UFC since 2004 when he lost via head kick to Yves Edwards. Thomson had been fighting for the now defunct Strikeforce and his last fight was also at the HP Pavilion when he lost to Gilbert Melendez.

Melendez will most likely give Diaz some tips on how to beat Thomson since he is Diaz' friend and teammate.

Diaz will be the favorite to win the fight but Thomson is a wily veteran who could pull the upset.

The bad boy from the Cesar Gracie Fight Team is coming off a loss to Benson Henderson at UFC on FOX 5 last December.

This fight will be a part of the UFC on FOX 7 show and it will be an important fight for both fighters since they are both coming off a loss.

Diaz wants to get back to his winning ways while Thomson wants to make a good impression in his first UFC fight in over nine years.
