Pre-production is wrapping up for The Prodigal, an epic, redemptive movie, which is to film soon in Texas. Michael Walters has been writing on Facebook about the backstories of the principal characters for the movie. He writes "...we all know someone who we would consider to be or have been a Prodigal. When I created the character of Josh Summers for this movie he is based on three real life people that I know, their character and their experiences. Josh begins as a teen, but we also see him briefly as an exuberant child. He is highly talented and has big dreams and his good looks don't help him stay away from trouble either.
I wanted to bring to the forefront in this story, the point that our choices have consequences. But more than typically a single choice does not just create a single consequence, it creates a chain reaction!
The same here applies in this movie. Josh's choices lead to a string of tragic consequences, and his life becomes like a snowball rolling down a steep hill. True to experiences we may have had ourselves, the snowball becomes difficult to stop without an intervention.
Another point I wanted to make is that the further down the dark road you take yourself the more that you will meet people who will begin to take advantage of you and keep feeding off of you until you're completely destroyed.
We believe this is an important story to tell in a big way and it will have a big impact on a world-wide audience. The Prodigal is designed to present not just Josh's character but many other characters, all interwoven together on a journey. In the coming weeks we will begin to present many of the characters and the plots in this film.
