Josh Hamilton weight loss due to 'doing the juicing stuff'

Former Texas Rangers star Josh Hamilton showed up for spring training with his new team, the Los Angeles Angels, and made a head turning comment. According to USA Today on Feb. 13, when asked, he explained the Josh Hamilton weight loss as "doing the juicing stuff."

That is a huge statement and has so many bad connotations.

For one thing, Hamilton is a recovering drug addict and alcoholic. The "juicing" could have serious consequences when concerning his sobriety. Second of all, juicing is also the hot button term for taking banned PEDs, and Lance Armstrong's recent admission on Oprah brought that term back to the limelight.

However, Hamilton had a completely different meaning when he said the Josh Hamilton weight loss was due to juicing. He said that "the Lord kept waking" him up in the middle of the night and he would flip on the TV and see a doctor talking about how to care for your body and then "the juice lady was on." This caused him to undertake a "juice diet" and he came to camp 20-pounds lighter than usual.

This is great news for Josh Hamilton and his new team as he starts the next phase of his career. He just might want to be a little more careful with his words next time around.
