With no trade partner able to be found, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released quarterback Josh Freeman on Oct. 3, 2013, according to ESPN.
Earlier this week, the Buccaneers were trying desperately to find a team to trade for Freeman, but they couldn't find anyone to do so. By Monday, reports came out saying that the Bucs had contacted at least 12 different teams to inquire about a trade for Freeman.
Even though they released Freeman, they are obligated to pay him the remaining $6.2 million he was owed in salary for this season.
A report recently came out that Freeman was fined twice by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Sept. for conduct detrimental to the team. Reports have come out saying that he will appeal both fines. News was also leaked out that Freeman was in Stage 1 of the league's substance-abuse program.
Josh Freeman was drafted 17th overall in the first found of the 2009 NFL Draft. After the first three games of the season, Bucs' coach Greg Schiano benched Freeman and started rookie Mike Glennon in his place.
Throughout 60 games with the Buccaneers, Freeman threw for 13,534 yards, 80 touchdowns, and 66 interceptions.
