Good Morning America” is the most-watched morning show, recently jumping ahead of NBC's “Today Show.” News broke over the weekend that Josh Elliott would be leaving 'GMA' to take a sports job at NBC. According to an April 1 report from TMZ, Josh Elliott just wanted out of “Good Morning America” so badly that even more money couldn't get him to stay. ABC offered him $4 million dollars, while the job he took at NBC only pays $3 million.

There are several reports that the atmosphere around “Good Morning America” is less than pleasant. Josh Elliott is rumored to be very abrasive and hard to deal with. When Robin Roberts signed a $14 million dollar contract with “Good Morning America,” it angered Elliott. He believes he is worth more than the network is paying him. Now that Josh Elliott has his foot in the door at NBC, he may be in line to take Matt Lauer's job at “Today” when Lauer retires. Right now there are no plans to use Elliott on “Today” at all, but the door is open in the future.

The news about Josh Elliott choosing to depart “Good Morning America” shocked fans. While it looks as though things are great on the set of the morning show, Elliott didn't think so. He is looking out for his best interest, and Elliott may have just made a very strategic career move.
