Robert Rodriguez has replaced Clive Owen with Josh Brolin in the cast for his upcoming film, "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For." According to CBR on Jan. 8, Brolin will play Dwight in the prequel movie, which ties in well with the original comic stories.
In the comic books, "A Dame to Kill For" took place before "The Big Fat Kill," which is the main story the first movie is based on. In between those two events, Dwight had his face reconstructed to look completely different, making the change in actors work perfectly in this case.
The story follows Dwight after the "Dame" of the title destroys his life and he has to fight to regain what he lost, while seeking vengeance for his troubles. Originally, the Dame was written for the script with Angelina Jolie in mind, but Rodriguez has to pass on her and find someone else, although rumors are he wants someone equally big.
Maybe Salma Hayek could return to the Rodriguez fold?
Brolin is the latest addition to the cast, joining Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who will play a gambler; Dennis Haysbert, who will replace the late Michael Clarke Duncan; Christopher Meloni, who will play a crooked cop; and Jamie Chung, who replaces a pregnant Devon Aoki. Original cast members Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba and Jaime King return as well.
