For an indeterminate length of time, a German shepherd named "Joseph," existed in a neglected state of misery; chained alone, tethered to a tree, in the Middletown, Ohio, backyard of Jeremy Shane Temple.
The dog who once spent day after lonely day, watching a world go by without him, is now spending his days on the other, blissful side of the spectrum.
Joseph's days of living without shelter and companionship are happily gone - today, he is surrounded by the loving veterinary staff at the West Chester Veterinary Clinic.
The dog who existed, outside in the elements, deprived of kindness and compassion, is now sleeping inside on a soft bed, eating high-quality food and receiving top notch veterinary care.
On Sunday, the dog who was deprived of even the most basic necessities, received his first ever manicure.
On Monday, the West Chester Veterinary Clinic shared the following with their Facebook followers:
As he has felt better, Joseph has been complaining more about being in his kennel. He's saying, "Play with me!" It's wonderful to see him interacting with the staff. He spends most of his day sitting in the treatment area now.
The regal German shepherd who lived in a state of solitary misery is now known around the world - perfect strangers are clamoring to call him their own, while others seek only to shower him with gifts.
The emaciated dog is slowly, but surely gaining weight; each day brings him one step closer to good health and much deserved comfort and happiness.
