Joseph Farah: God is hardening Obama's heart just like the Pharaoh's

Joseph Farah

In a February 4th, 2014 column for WorldNetDaily, editor-in-chief Joseph Farah took Bill O'Reilly to task for saying of President Obama that his "heart is in the right place."

"Can Bill O'Reilly know it? What special training and insight might he have?" he asks. "Everything about Obama’s actions suggests neither his heart nor his soul is in the right place."

Given that Farah still won't even admit that Obama is a U.S. citizen (even though he has no problem with Ted Cruz being Canadian), it should hardly be surprising that Farah feels this way about him.

Farah goes on to suggest, not only that Obama's heart is hard, but that it has been hardened by God, just like the Pharoah's in Exodus, for the purpose of forcing America's hand.

"In Egypt, God hardened the heart of Pharaoh to serve His purposes. God sought to deliver His people from bondage in Egypt," he writes. "Is it entirely possible God is hardening the heart of Obama today to deliver His people from bondage once again?"

No, it isn't. But But Farah has always hated reality, so he continues writing along that trajectory anyway.

"The Hebrew people were not excited about leaving bondage in Egypt," he writes. "As bad as conditions were, the unknown frightened them. Even after the Red Sea was parted, saving them from annihilation by the Egyptian army, many sought to return to Egypt from the safety of the wilderness.

"In a similar way, I believe Obama’s role is to force Americans to make a decision about their future."
Fittingly enough, Farah proceeds along with the Religious Right's tradition of depicting freedom and tolerance as tyranny and fundamentalist totalitarianism as freedom.

"Will we continue down the road toward bondage or reverse course and seek liberty in the ways of God?" he asks. "Will we accept government’s handouts and control over our lives or depend on God and the work of our own minds and hands? Will we follow God or will we make government our god the way the children of Israel made one of a golden calf?

"I will believe Barack Obama’s heart is in the right place when he vows that he is a follower of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and will take no actions and make no pronouncements that he cannot square with His Holy Word. I will believe Barack Obama's heart is in the right place when he repents of all the evil he has wrought since assuming office five years ago. I will believe Barack Obama’s heart is in the right place when he turns from his wicked ways, scrupulously follows the law of the land and listens not only for the voice of God but for the voice of the people he is sworn to serve."

As a reminder, the "evil he has wrought" includes presiding over an economic recovery, reforming healthcare to be available to millions, and bringing to justice the man who orchestrated the 9/11 attacks.

Of course, this is the same man who denounced Nelson Mandela as a terrorist, can supposedly tell if you are evil or not based on what TV shows you watch, and who employs Erik Rush, Larry Klayman, Christopher Monckton, and countless other sworn enemies of democracy, so his opinion of what constitutes evil should hardly be surprising.
