Jordn Smith leads Central to huge win over PCHS

CORINTH--The Central Red Devils boys basketball team needed a big week to pick up some valuable heal points.

Jordn Smith is having a monster week for the Red Devils.

Smith recorded 16 points, 11 rebounds, six blocks, five assists, and three steals to lead Central to a 49-36 victory over Piscataquis community high school (PCHS) Pirates on Wednesday evening.

Central went on a 19-2 run to end the first half, as they took a 24-9 lead going into halftime.

Smith gave the Red Devils their biggest lead of 20 (31-11) with 5:20 remaining in the third quarter.

PCHS went on a 11-2 run, to cut the deficit to 33-22 at the end of the third quarter.

The Pirates cut the lead to eight on three different occasions in the fourth quarter.

Central went 7-9 from the free throw line in the final four minutes of the contest to secure the victory.

Kyle Ham recorded 14 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals for the Red Devils. Andrew Prescott scored 10 points and pulled down four rebounds.

Caleb Shaw added three points and three assists.

Andrew Speed, Tony Underhill, and Grant Poulin chipped in with two points each.

Central (5-6) started the week in 14th place in the MPA class C heal point standings. With two big wins, the Red Devils are now eighth in the standings.

Smith scored 21 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in a Central 44-41 victory over Orono on Monday.

Central will travel to Dexter on Friday, for another heal point worthy game.

Tristan French led the Pirates with 22 points, five rebounds, five steals, and three assists.

Benjamin Morrill added five points, two assists, and two steals. Nate Burns finished with four points, six rebounds, and two steals.

Mitchel Noyes chipped in with three points and three rebounds.

Jeremy Bell added two points. Cody White pulled down three rebounds and had three steals.

PCHS (6-5) is scheduled to host Stearns on Friday evening.
