The Michael Jordan paternity case has been dismissed, but it may not be over. Both the NBA champ and the woman who started it all, requested dismissal. Pamela Smith has, herself, filed further papers asking that the Georgia suit be dropped – but without prejudice. That means, reports TMZ on Monday, March 18, that she can file it again if she wants.
The paternity suit, originally filed in Georgia, claims Michael Jordan, of extreme basketball fame, fathered Pamela Smith’s baby – born sixteen years ago. This is no infant here, but a teenaged boy who has to live and go to school with all this hanging over his head, although rumors claim he asked to have the suit filed. It appears to be more over recognition of paternity than money – a strange situation.
There is no word exactly why Smith dropped her case, but she has not yet dropped her claim. She had asked for DNA evidence to be provided. Remember when that happened to Justin Bieber? The test exonerated him. Michael Jordan might have the same result.
Or not. It could be that Jordan and Smith have come to some private agreement, and they will have the test done quietly.
There is no real problem, these days, proving or disproving paternity. The DNA results don’t lie.
