According to a Feb. 24 post from BlogTalkRadio.com, Jordan Nicole Gaza said in an interview with Wombat Sports that she'll be fighting fellow Texan Amber "The Apex Predator" Stautzenberger on Apr. 20 in Fargo, North Dakota.
Gaza, a 20-year-old who has competed both in the 115 and 125-pound weight classes, battles Stautzenberger at Scheels Arena in the Dakota Fighting Championships promotion, and a shot to fight for Invicta FC may be on the line.
Gaza is coming off a victory over Kathina Catron, who was signed to Invicta FC despite falling short against the "Ninja Princess," and a victory over a grizzled veteran like the 25-year-old Stautzenberger may be enough to open the eyes of Invicta FC's matchmakers.
"I feel like that would be amazing," Gaza said of possibly joining the Invicta FC ranks with a victory over Stautzenberg. "It would be awesome to finally be, other than the UFC, with the best promotion that I could possibly be in, and I'm going to work my butt off for this training camp to get there."
Invicta FC played coy, explaining that they weren't paying any extra attention to the Gaza vs Stautzenberger fight. However, Invicta FC matchmaker Janet Martin is perhaps the most knowledgeable person in the world when it comes to women's MMA, so there's a great chance she'll be watching when Gaza and Stautzenberger duke it out on Apr. 20.
"I keep an eye on all women's MMA bouts," Martin said when asked if she was keeping a close watch on the Gaza vs Stautzenberger fight. "But I keep prospect ideas confidential."
Stautzenberger may be just as close to Gaza to a shot with Invicta FC, as she went the distance with Invicta veterans such as Paige VanZant and Tecia "The Tiny Tornado" Torres.
