Jordan Knowlton earns female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season the Eastern Maine High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc @ easternmainesportsblog@yahoo.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.

2012/2013 Winter season- Week 11- February 11th- February 16th

Female

Jordan Knowlton- Camden Hills- Basketball- Had 31 points, 19 rebounds and six assists in 68-53 prelim victory over Hermon. Recorded 21 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and one assists in 54-39 quarterfinal victory over Oceanside. Knowlton and the Windjammers will face Nokomis in a class B semifinal game on February 20th.

Runner up

Parise Rossignol- Van Buren- Basketball- Recorded 35 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and four blocks in 64-32 prelim victory over Southern Aroostook. Scored 30 points in 52-41 quarterfinal loss to Hodgdon.

Other nominations

Grace MacLean- Bangor- Track- At the PVC competition she set a league record of 8.52 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles. She also set a league record in the long jump.

Hannah Shaw- MDI- Basketball- Scored 30 points in 61-43 prelim victory over Caribou.

Jesse Bell- PCHS- Basketball- Recorded 19 points, six assists and three steals in 49-44 prelim victory over Penquis. She hit five free throws in the fourth quarter to secure the victory for the Pirates.

Julia Annis- Foxcroft- Swimming- As a sophomore Julia is PVC champion in 50m free and 100m breaststroke, and qualified for nationals.

Rachel Pease- Camden Hills- Basketball- Recorded 14 points and 14 rebounds in 54-39 quarterfinal victory over Oceanside.

Taylor Shaw- Nokomis- Basketball- Scored 13 points in 49-39 quarterfinal victory over Belfast.

Kelsie Richards- Nokomis- Basketball- Scored all 12 of her points in 4th quarter in 49-39 quarterfinal victory over Belfast.

Anna Mackenzie- Nokomis- Basketball- Recorded 11 points, nine rebound and four steal in 49-39 quarterfinal victory over Belfast.

Mallory Nelson - Mt. Ararat- Basketball- Went 12-12 from the free throw line and scored 28 points in 51-37 quarterfinal victory over Oxford Hills.

Cordelia Stewart- Bangor- Basketball Scored 17 points in 61-48 quarterfinal victory over Skowhegan.

Mary Butler- Bangor- Basketball- Scored 16 points in 61-48 quarterfinal victory over Skowhegan.

Sarah Bragg- Bangor- Basketball- Scored 16 points in 61-48 quarterfinal victory over Skowhegan.

Nia Irving- Lawrence- Basketball- The freshman scored 28 points in 73-62 quarterfinal victory over Mt. Blue.

Dominique Lewis- Lawrence- Basketabll- Scored 18 points in 73-62 quarterfinal victory over Mt. Blue.

Hayley Quirion - Cony- Basketball- Hit 5 three-pointers and scored 17 points in 52-35 quarterfinal victory over Edward Little.
