The epitome of all things Mirrodin and metalcraft, Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer is the only multicolored card featured in Magic: The Gathering’s New Phyrexia set. Jor Kadeen is an impressive Mirran-flavored 5 drop that inspires your allies to fight with dangerous enthusiasm.

5/4
Jor Kadeen is a monstrous 8/4 first strike if you’ve got metalcraft on the board, enough to take down even the mightiest of titans without breaking a sweat.
Even without metalcraft enabled you’re not getting a “terrible” deal for 5, but obviously you’re going to want to run Jor in a deck that should potentially win the turn he hits the table.
Assuming you’re all nice and cozy behind some Myr and maybe a Tempered Steel, when Jor Kadeen comes charging in with all of his Mirran glory your opponent should essentially just explode with the sheer force of 20-50 points of power pouring over the table.
In Limited, Jor Kadeen can create situations so brutal that he’s actually probably a better selection than some of the seven-mana mythic Praetors, if you’re willing to commit on your first pick to a Mirran philosophy.
Jor Kadeen is a dangerous card to open pack one pick one for this reason, as you’ll be dedicating to not one but two colors off your first card – and not just colors, you’re going to be in metalcraft as well. While Jor Kadeen is a huge commitment, the benefits are truly ridiculous as well, either swinging with 4/1 Ichorclaw Myrs or some of the new Phyrexian metal options.
Should you first pick Jor Kadeen? Probably.
