Jones takes win in Snowball Derby

Kyle Busch Motorsports driver Erik Jones picked up his second consecutive Snowball Derby win on Sunday after Chase Elliott, who took the checkered flag, failed post-race inspection. Jones becomes just the third driver – with Rich Bickle and Augie Grill – to win back-to-back Snowball Derbies.

"A win is a win so we will take it," said Jones on the KBM website. "Sometimes it plays out like this, we all come to the Derby knowing about the Room of Doom and everyone has to pass through it. Getting back-to-back wins at the Derby is really special to not only myself but to Kyle Busch Motorsports, James Finch and everyone at Phoenix Construction. It's extremely hard to do such a thing and really puts a nice seal on the 2013 season."

Jones, driving the No. 51 Phoenix Construction Toyota Camry for KBM at the Derby, started 12th and spent much of the day in the top 10, settling into fifth position with 20 laps to go. He moved into the runner-up spot with 14 to go, but Elliott had already put together a two-second lead on the field. A win was out of the question until Elliott’s car failed inspection.

Jones closed an impressive 2013 season with a Camping World Truck Series win, an ARCA Racing Series win, the Winchester 400 Super Late Model race victory and his Snowball Derby win.
