Perfect games by Greg Jones and Jerry Weese, plus an 800 series by Steven Baran, are the headline performances in this week's report on high scores from bowling leagues in the Sarasota-Manatee-Charlotte County area.

Jones blasted his perfecto in the opening game of this week's session of the Environmental A/C League at AMF Gulf Gate Lanes. He followed with scores of 214 and 207 for a 721 series that upped his current average to 206.

Weese opened with games of 211 and 165 before stringing 12 consecutive strikes in the final game to complete a 676 series in the Aero Sol Tuesday Men's League at Treasure Lanes, where he now carries a 214 average.

Baran fired an even 800 series on games of 255, 279 and 266 to increase his average to 208 in the La Malinche Restaurant League at Sarasota Lanes. Earlier in the week, he posted 278-705 numbers in the Spectrum Dental Lab Mixed League in the same center.

Rich Sterner turned in an 11-in-a-row performance in the Al Davis Memorial League at Bowland Port Charlotte, opening a 667 series with a 122-over-average 298 game.

Three area players strung 10 consecutive strikes in a game to finish with scores in the 280s. Aaron Albritton fired a 289 game in the middle of a 172-over-average 790 series in the C&L Awards Mixed League at Sarasota Lanes, Terry Cline rolled a 288 to begin a 682 set in the Amore's Italian Restaurant League at AMF Venice, and Guy Jones had a 280 to cap a 744 series in the Friday Mixed League at Englewood Bowl.

Far-over-average efforts included a 160-over 670 series by Cliff Martin in the Environmental A/C League at AMF Gulf Gate, and a 147-over 690 series that included a 267 game by Jeff Pennell in the La Malinche Restaurant League at Sarasota Lanes.
