JonBenet Ramsey: Grand jury did want to indict parents

The JonBenet Ramsey case seems like it has been around forever without any type of closure and JonBenet became somewhat of a celebrity after her death. A grand jury thought there was plenty of evidence in 1999 to indict John and Patsy Ramsey on charges relating to the death of JonBenet according to ABC News on Jan. 28.

The grand jury took nearly a year but they did find there was enough evidence to charge the Ramseys’ with child abuse. The grand jury did not feel it was murder but the Ramseys’ were responsible for her death based on the abuse.

There was only one problem. The District Attorney Alex Hunter refused to sign off on the grand jury’s decision. Hunter believed there was still too little proof to go ahead with charges. Hunter retired in 2001 after 28 years as the Boulder County’s district attorney.

Patsy Ramsey died in 2006 due to ovarian cancer. John Ramsey has remarried since her death. The case is still open for the death of JonBenet Ramsey but they are still no closer to solving this mystery. Do you think Alex Hunter had the right to refuse to sign off on the grand jury’s decision?
