JonBenet Ramsey case: Grand jury voted to indict parents (Video)

The JonBenet Ramsey case still intrigues people nearly two decades later. A new revelation has surfaced that has brought the murder case back into the headlines. According to a Jan. 28, 2013 report by ABC News, a grand jury in 1999 voted to indict the victim's grieving parents.

JonBenet Ramsey was found dead in the basement of her home on Dec. 25, 1996. The killer or killers of the six-year-old pageant contestant have never been brought to justice, and the case is still technically open. Now, it has been revealed that a grand jury believed the Ramsey's were responsible for their daughter's death through child abuse. However, the district attorney, Alex Hunter, declined to sign off on the grand jury's decision at the time. So the Ramsey's were never prosecuted.

Following JonBenet Ramsey's death, her parents maintained that she had been killed by an intruder. Their theory was never proven. Since the murder, there have been many accusations, confessions and false leads. Watch the video at the top of the page for one such story.

Ramsey's mother passed away in 2006, the victim of ovarian cancer. Sadly, little JonBenet's sister died in a tragic car accident in 1992. Her father remarried after briefly dating Beth Twitty, the mother of missing high school student Natalee Holloway, who disappeared in Aruba in 2005. His new wife is Jan Rousseaux, a Las Vegas fashion designer.

JonBenet Ramsey would have turned 23 this year.
