Tonight, the legendary Jonathan Richman brings his unique brand of wide-eyed humorous and haunting folk rock to the Somerville Theatre. Maybe he'll sing some of his locally based tunes, like "New England," "As We Walk To Fenway Park," "Roadrunner," or "Government Center." Some tickets remain. $20.
Also tonight, Deer Tick and Dawes are at the Paradise, opening for their own side project Middle Brother, an alt-country supergroup featuring Deer Tick's own John McCauley, and Taylor Goldsmith from Dawes, along with Matthew Vazquez from the Delta Spirit. Their self-titled debut album just came out on Tuesday, and Rolling Stone says "Half the songs on Middle Brother involve drinking and the rest hangovers of the heart." Doors at 8 PM; 18+ show; $20.
