Rhys Meyers, who stars in Showtime's The Tudors, was discovered by EMTS in his flat after an undisclosed person called 999 on him. The actor was responsive but uncooperative, leading the paramedics to alert the police and hospitalize him.
Meyers has publicly struggled with a severe alcohol problem over the past few years. He's been arrested twice for belligerent, intoxicated behavior and has gone through rehab several times. His addiction began manifesting itself following the death of his mother.
A source close to Meyers insists that this was a relapse and not a suicide attempt. London's Scotland Yard would only confirm that a man was indeed hospitalize following an incident in his flat. He was reportedly released Wednesday morning.
While Meyers hasn't spoken much about his previous troubles, he did tell the Daily Mail last year, "I just don't want to be that f****** a******* sitting in the pub and someone turns around and says, "See him there at the end of the bar. He could have made a f****** fortune, but he went over to Hollywood and he just f****** p****d it up against the wall."'
